I was challenged to design and craft a socks box out of a single 16 x 24 sheet of E-flute cardboard. To make sure this design is made to minimize waste (assuming these boxes would be mass produced for larger retailers), I made sure that the net would it twice on one sheet of cardboard.
I considered the possible interactions of my design and made the following key features: fox ears which could be easily used as handles, a perfectly thumb-sized triangle cutout for an intuitive open indicator, proportional hole cutouts to reveal the texture and color of the product, and an overall simple geometric shape and square base/top for stacking and optimal storage.
